Projectweek Minierva 2013 - No shame in it.

Ook dit jaar geven wij in de hoedanigheid van ApFab les gedurende de projectweek @ Minerva Groningen. Binnenkort laten we van succesnummertjes zien uit voorgaande jaargangen.

Hier onze wervende tekst:

“Collage (From the French: coller, to glue, French pronunciation:

[kɔ.laːʒ]) is a technique of art production, primarily used in the visual arts, where the artwork is made from an assemblage of different forms, thus creating a new whole. A collage may sometimes include newspaper clippings, ribbons, bits of colored or handmade papers, portions of other artwork or texts, photographs and other found objects, glued to a piece of paper or canvas. The origins of collage can be traced back hundreds of years, but this technique made a dramatic reappearance in the early 20th century as an art form of novelty.”

Thanks a lot for that definition, my dearest Wikipedia. Correct me if I’m wrong, but aren’t you some sort of collage yourself? None of your ideas are authentic in the strictest sense of the word - let’s just be honest. They are a composition of exciting things you have seen, heard, read or tasted before. No shame in it. “Nothing comes from nothing, nothing can return to nothing”, my grandfather used to say. Even the words I’m typing at this very moment aren’t mine, but were invented

a long time ago. Only the order I’m putting them in is mine -right? Well, I don’t know. Enough fuzzy philosophy, let me get to the point.

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Goals<<<<<<<<<<<<<<

▪Conceptually

This week’s project is a collective search for clarity concerning questions of authenticity. In a way the final artworks should be approached as a well formulated questions, not as answers.

▪Physically

The product you’ll make can be in all four dimensions: 2D on screen or paper, a collage; 3D, an assemblage or installation; or 4D, time based, a video mash up or stop motion animation.

▪Method

You collaborate in small groups of 2 to 3 students. Bring a camera in order to document the process
and to collect material.
